Welcome to Choremon ("we," "our," or "us"). Choremon is a family chore management application that helps parents create chores for their children, who can earn virtual gems and grow virtual pets called "Mons" as rewards for completing tasks.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of all our users, with special attention to the privacy of children under 13. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

By using Choremon, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

COPPA Compliance Statement

Choremon complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA requires that online service providers obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 years of age.

How We Comply with COPPA:

  Parental Account Requirement Children cannot create accounts independently. A parent or guardian must first create a parent account and then add child profiles to the family.
• 
  Verifiable Parental Consent By creating a child profile, parents provide consent for us to collect limited information about their child as described in this policy.
• 
  Minimal Data Collection We only collect information from children that is reasonably necessary for them to participate in the chore and rewards activities.
• 
  No Third-Party Sharing We do not share children's personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
• 
  Parental Access & Control Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time through their parent dashboard.
• 
  No Behavioral Advertising We do not use children's data for targeted advertising or behavioral tracking.

Important Notice for Parents

If you believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at contact@choremon.com. We will promptly delete such information from our records.

From Parent Accounts:

• 📧
  Email Address Used for account authentication, password recovery, and important service communications.
• 
  Password Securely hashed and stored. We never store passwords in plain text.
• 
  Family Name Used to identify your family group within the app.
• 
  Payment Information (Premium users) Processed securely through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

From Child Profiles (Created by Parents):

• 
  Display Name A name or nickname chosen by the parent to identify the child within the family. This does not need to be the child's real name.
• 
  One-Time Login Codes Short-lived, randomly generated codes (e.g., "123-456") created by parents to allow children to log in. These codes expire after use or after a short time period and contain no personal information.
• 
  Mon (Virtual Pet) Data Information about the child's chosen virtual pet, including type and name.
• 
  Activity Data Chore completions, gem balances, and reward redemptions within the app.

Automatically Collected Information:

• 
  Device Information Browser type, operating system, and device type for optimizing the user experience.
• 
  Usage Data Anonymous usage statistics to improve our service. This data is not linked to individual children.

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  Provide the Service Enable families to create and manage chores, track progress, and redeem rewards.

  Authentication Verify user identity and secure access to accounts.

  Communications Send important service updates, security alerts, and (for parents only) optional newsletters.

What We DON'T Do

We do NOT sell personal information to third parties.
We do NOT use children's data for advertising or marketing.
We do NOT create advertising profiles based on children's activities.
We do NOT share data with social networks or data brokers.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  Payment Processors We use Stripe to process payments. Parent payment information is shared with Stripe under their privacy policy. Children's information is never shared with payment processors.
• 
  Audio Generation (FalAi) To provide audio narration of bedtime stories, we send story text (which includes your child's display name) to FalAi for text-to-speech processing. FalAi does not store this data for training purposes. This is the only service that receives children's data.
• 
  Hosting Providers Our service is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
• 
  Legal Requirements We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect rights, safety, or property.

  Business Transfers In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred. We will notify users before any such transfer.

Access and review all personal information collected from your child.

Update or correct your child's information at any time.

Request deletion of your child's account and all associated data.

Withdraw Consent

Revoke consent for future collection of your child's information.

How to Exercise These Rights:

Most actions can be performed directly through your Parent Dashboard. To delete a child's account, go to Family Settings and select "Remove Child." For complete account deletion or other requests, please contact us at contact@choremon.com.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  Encryption in Transit All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
• 
  Encryption at Rest Sensitive data is encrypted when stored in our databases.
• 
  Password Hashing All passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt). We never store plain-text passwords. One-time login codes are short-lived and automatically expire.
• 
  Access Controls Strict access controls limit employee access to user data on a need-to-know basis.
• 
  Security Audits Regular security reviews and updates to protect against vulnerabilities.

Security Reminder

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. Please use strong, unique passwords and only share one-time login codes directly with your children.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to:

  Provide Our Services Data is retained while your account is active.

  Comply with Legal Obligations Certain data may be retained to comply with legal requirements.
• 
  Resolve Disputes Data may be retained as needed to resolve disputes or enforce agreements.

Account Deletion: When you delete your account or remove a child profile, we will delete or anonymize the associated personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Inactive Accounts: Accounts that have been inactive for more than 6 months may be deleted after providing notice to the registered email address.

We use minimal cookies and similar technologies:

  Essential Cookies Required for authentication and security. These cannot be disabled.

  Preference Cookies Remember your settings and preferences for a better experience.
• 
  Analytics Cookies (Optional) We use Google Analytics on parent accounts and public pages only to understand how our service is used. This is only enabled if you accept optional cookies. IP addresses are anonymized.

Children's Privacy Protection

Google Analytics is NEVER used on child accounts or kid-facing pages. We take extra precautions to ensure children's activities are not tracked by any third-party analytics tools. Only essential cookies required for the app to function are used on child pages.

We do NOT use:

• Advertising cookies or ad tracking
• Social media tracking pixels
• Cross-site tracking or remarketing
• Any tracking whatsoever on child accounts

Managing Your Preferences: You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clearing your browser's local storage and revisiting the site. For more information about Google Analytics, visit Google's Privacy Policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes:

  Updated Date The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised.

  30-Day Notice For material changes affecting children's data, we provide at least 30 days notice.

Continued use of Choremon after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
